Before You Spray: General Use Precautions
To minimize risk of plant damage:
- Always test on a single leaf or small section of the plant before full application. Wait 24-48 hours and monitor for any adverse reactions.
- USE CAUTION ON SENSITIVE, STRESSED, OR RECENTLY REPOTTED PLANTS. Plants recovering from transplant shock or illness may be more reactive.
- AVOID USE ON SEEDLINGS, NEW FOLIAGE, OR VERY YOUNG PLANTS unless diluted and tested first.
- AVOID DIRECT LIGHT (NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL) AND TEMPERATURES >85°F UNTIL PLANT IS COMPLETELY DRY.
- CAM SPECIES REQUIRE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS (see Section 3).
- DO NOT APPLY MORE FREQUENTLY THAN RECOMMENDED. Overuse can contribute to leaf burn, spotting, edge burn, or clogged stomata. Best results come from consistent use.
- Do not mix with other sprays, soaps, or fertilizers as this increases the risk of phytotoxicity.
- May leave a temporary sheen or light residue. Natural botanical scent fades after drying.
1) DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Shake well before use. Spray all sides of the leaves and stems to the point of light runoff. Allow product to sit for up to 10 minutes. Wipe pest remnants and spray residue from the treated plant. Rinse difficult to reach areas such as axils and crowns (if applicable) with water. Plants with heavy foliage may also be rinsed well in lieu of wiping. Reapply every 5-7 days, or at the first sign of pests. For specific pest instructions see Section 4.
2) SOIL DRENCH APPLICATION:
(fungus gnats and root zone pests)
Shake product well before measuring. For sensitive plants or light preventions, measure 15ml of product and mix gently with 1 gallon of water to avoid foaming. For active infestations or well established plants, use 30ml per one gallon of water.
Apply after watering. Never apply to dry soil. Slowly saturate the top 2-3 inches of soil. Avoid overwatering with product or flooding container. Allow top 1-2 inches of soil to dry before re-watering. Apply every 2-3 weeks as needed. Do not exceed dilution recommendations. Overuse may effect roots. Avoid drenching seedlings and succulents.
3) SENSITIVE PLANT CONSIDERATIONS (SUCCULENTS, ORCHIDS, CACTI)
Plants with Crassulation Acid Metabolism (CAM) such as snake plants, jade, aloe, etc. are more sensitive to oil-based products. Spray in the early morning. Allow product to sit for up to 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water and provide good airflow. Keep out of direct light until dry. DO NOT TREAT IN THE EVENING. Avoid soil drenching these plants unless highly diluted and necessary. Leaf tissues may be prone to damage with frequent oil exposure.
4) PEST SPECIFIC GUIDANCE
Spider Mites and Aphids:
Spray underside of leaves, crevices, and stems. Wipe away pest remnants and spray residue from plant. Reapply weekly.
Scale:
Spray pests directly, making sure to get stems and crevices. Wipe away pest remnants and spray residue.
Mealybugs:
Spray leaves, stems, and crevices. Wipe pest remants from plant and spray residue. Spray the top of the soil daily to prevent migration. Reapply weekly. Mealybugs can take up to 6 weeks to eradicate with repeat applications.
Fungus Gnats:
Spray the top of the soil daily to repel adult gnats. Use soil drench every 2-3 weeks. Alternatively, 1 part of 3% hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts of water may be used with weekly watering to reduce gnat larvae population. It is not necessary to spray the foliage during fungus gnat treatment. Avoid the plant stem or crown when spraying the soil daily. Rinse stem or crown with water after treatment if necessary. It is not unusual to see an increase in adult gnats when treatment begins.
Thrips & Whiteflies:
Spray leaf surfaces weekly. Wipe away pest remnants and spray residue. Spray top of soil to prevent migrations. Once infestation is under control, spray bi-weekly for prevention.
This is not a knockdown spray. It works by coating, smothering, and disrupting pest activity. Visible results may require multiple applications.
5) FLOWER & BUD SAFETY:
Avoid direct spraying of open blooms or buds. If overspray occurs, rinse gently with room temperature water and blot excess moisture. Dry in a well ventilated room and remove any damaged blooms to support recovery.
6) PLANT FIRST AID:
If signs of stress appear (wilting, spotting, curling): Rinse affected foliage with clean water. Move the plant to shade and provide good airflow. Wait for recovery before reapplying. For severe cases, flush soil or repot plant.
